Bengaluru woman drafts corporate-style document for flatmates to manage household chores

A Bengaluru engineer shared how she and her flatmates divided up domestic duties. But what’s got everyone in stitches? They manage their chores with the precision of a corporate project, complete with a shared document.
In an X post, Tanvi Gaikwad, said, “Welcome to Bengaluru: Where flatmates’ duties are documented like a corporate project and the house gods might need their own Slack channel to weigh in on our mess.”
The post featured a detailed four-column table titled, “The ultimate list of chores you did not sign up for,” outlining who is responsible for what, along with several cheeky reasons why these chores actually matter.
Other highlights include, “Pay your rent on time or risk becoming a tenant in your own fantasy land,” and “Contribute to the Cook Fund or prepare to experience the ‘Chef’s Special’ sneeze-ridden food.”
Take a look at the post here:
The internet, as expected, had a field day with this corporate-turned-domestic affair. A user said, “Honestly, this could either be the best thing ever, or by day two this is in the trash.”
Another user said, ‘Guess boys are better at it. If someone feels like doing chores, else no one does it. Someday, all of us will decide to do it together. Going on for the past 3+ years.”
To add to the hilarity, a user shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation where someone humorously pointed out the typical half-hearted efforts of flat cooks: “Didi ne sirf dough chor diya hai. Iska bhatura banana padega (The cook has only made dough, we’ll have to turn this into bhaturas.”
Clearly, living in Bengaluru is more than just tech jobs and traffic jams – it’s also about managing your home like it’s a startup. Whether the document survives longer than a week or not, it’s already given social media users a reason to chuckle.
